We all experience anxiety from time to time, especially in these turbulent times. Chronic states of anxiety can last for weeks, months, or even years and can often affect our immunity and overall wellbeing.

Even though the origins of anxiety vary from person to person, the way our body reacts to anxiety is largely the same. In general, we go into a state of high alert, which activates our acute stress responses. Some of them are OCD; PTSD; nervousness; restlessness; rapid heart rate and breathing; heavy sweating; muscle trembling or twitching; weakness; insomnia; digestive or GI problems; and panic attacks. Thankfully, some natural remedies can help relieve anxiety at any level.

    The adaptogens Ashwagandha & Passionflower

If you’re not familiar with Ayurvedic practices, you might not have heard of Ashwagandha and Passionflower. Ashwagandha is a popular medicinal herb that has been used for over 3,000 years in Ayurvedic practices. It's known to help relieve stress, increase energy levels, improve concentration and strengthen the immune system.

Passionflower is a variety of exotic vine flower with curly purple or blue petals. There are over 500 species of it, and Passiflora incarnatais known for its calming, sleep inducing, and muscle spasm relieving effects.

Both are classified as "adaptogens,” meaning that they can help your body manage stress and balance your body and your hormones. Adaptogens include those herbs, spices and mushrooms that are able to support the function of our adrenal glands.

Since these herbs and plants can be used in different ways, be sure to research what’s the best option for you, and always pick that with a reputable and organic source. Most importantly, after you've asked for help from a naturopath, holistic nutritionist, and/or holistic healthcare provider, always consult with your doctor about the healthiest choice especially if you're taking other medications.

Normally, Passionflower is brought to a boil in water in order to create a herbal tea and Ashwagandha is administered in 450–500 mg capsules 1-2 times daily. In our recipe, however, you’ll use Ashwagandha powder and Passionflower liquid extract instead.

    Why add Liposomal Glutathione?

Liposomal Glutathione is a master detoxifier and the body's primary antioxidant. Its supplementation is crucial in helping your immune system to fight infections, while supporting detoxification of the liver, and promoting vital brain functions such as focus, concentration, and long-term memory.

Liposomal Glutathione is also a neuroprotector, which means that it preserves neuronal structure while supporting neurotransmitter levels and functions. It also aids in keeping the brain chemistry balanced, by making receptors in the brain more sensitive to the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin.

While both function as messengers between brain cells, there are a few differences. Dopamine is responsible for activating the pleasure centers of the brain, causing feelings of pleasure and providing a happiness boost. It’s also critical for the body’s movement functions. Serotonin is a stabilizer, as it’s associated with regulating happiness and good moods. It also helps your body with sleep, digestion, and wound healing.

When you choose your Glutathione supplement, opt for a Liposomal formula for the best effectiveness and value. Traditional forms of glutathione will break down in the digestive tract, so they won’t be absorbed by the cells that need it most. Liposomal formulas utilize optimally-sized liposomes to help carry the antioxidant directly to cells in need, resulting in maximum bioavailability.

Now that you know all the marvelous benefits of this fantastic trio of ingredients, let’s get to the super-easy recipe!

    The Recipe

    Ingredients

    10 oz unsweetened almond milk
    1/2 banana
    handful of mango
    1/3 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder
1 serving size (40 drops) of liquid Passionflower
1 Teaspoon (5 Milliliters) of Amandean's Liposomal Glutathione

    Preparation

Add banana, mango, almond milk, Ashwagandha powder, and Passionflower drops into a blender.

Blend until the mixture has a smooth texture.

Serve in a glass; add a teaspoon of Liposomal Glutathione and stir before drinking.
Note: Avoid blending the glutathione into a mixer as the liposomes can easily be damaged.
